Where we went wrong.
So that's why they were going left. We needed to be behind this cliff to get to the summit.

Where we turned back, we got a little stuck.
In the meantime we had some climbing to do. So this was a grade 3 scramble was it? About lunchtime we reached the crest of the ridge, expecting the plateau beyond. This is what we saw. Long way down, nowhere to go, unless we had ropes and protection. We didn't: so back it was. Nice place to eat lunch though!

Derek and a fish.
We packed up and went for a little walk before setting off from the pass itself (Tioga Pass, starting at 9,945 feet) to a little lake about half a mile away. Very peaceful. Derek caught a fish. Sorry, I can't remember what sort - something like a ruby gilled trout?
